UMBRO – “LINESMAN-TRAINER”
Packer x Umbro “COPA 100”
I had the pleasure of meeting some of the masterminds behind Packer where I lent them an original design to work with for our Packer x Umbro “Copa 100” capsule…and the story behind this project couldn’t of been written any better. With Copa America around the corner, and the finals ending up right in their backyard, it was a no-brainer. Here’s what they had to say..
“2016 marks the 100 year anniversary of the Copa America tournament, and to celebrate, we’ve teamed up with legendary soccer brand, Umbro, for a special capsule inspired by this year’s host country, the USA. This is the first time that the tournament has ever been held on American soil, and with matches being played right here in our own backyard, we’ll be commemorating the occasion with a limited edition collection of footwear and apparel oozing with US pride.
Umbr’so Linesman Trainer, a street-ready silhouette overflowing with classic soccer boot DNA pulled directly from the iconic Speciali model. The shoe marks the beginning of a new era for Umbro that will see a variety of like-minded styles introduced to the market in the near future. With limited distribution worldwide, each COPA 100 shoe has been handmade in Portugal using ultra premium full grain leather and buttery suede combined with a made in Italy XL EXTRALIGHT outsole unit to create one of the most luxurious soccer-inspired lifestyle footwear offerings ever to hit the market.
In addition to the red and blue accents, the shoe also gives some patriotic nods courtesy of debossed stars on the tongue flaps and 13 perforated stripes along the lateral sides. For those who choose to tuck the tongue flap, there is additional debossed co-branding on the underside with our circular stars and stripes crest featured on the footbeds, as well as on the dust bag and special packaging.
The collab will launch at 12 noon EST Saturday, June 11th, in-store at our Jersey City location and online at PackerShoes.com, just in time for the US National Team’s final group stage match against Paraguay.”
